Adapted Recreation focuses on desire, motivation and strengths.  One-on-one sessions will assess, consult and train for individuals to rise to the next level of recreation.  Unsure where to begin? Don't worry- we will figure that out too.  An adapted recreation assessment will help you explore various options and the resources available to you.  Activities include adapted sports, volunteer placement and 1:1 assistance, adapted equipment fit, sensory integration activities and more.

Family Recreation and attachment sessions focus on improving family relationships through communication activities, trust and play.  Sessions are provided primarily in the home but other accommodations can be made as requested.  Activities using attachment based interactions are utilized to increase the trust and help families thrive through any obstacle.

TESTIMONIES:

"I can't tell you how many caseworks and therapists we had met... After 6 home sessions with Miranda something started changing.  Recreation Therapy was the only thing that worked.  My foster daughter and I have a relationship now.  We do fun things together.  We talk."

"My daughter has special needs.  My life was spent thinking about therapy goals, eating and sleeping... But now we play together!  I learned how to adapt her therapy into games and we have found things she can do for play independently."

"My son's emotional outbursts can be overwhelming.  He can't communicate what he wants and family time seemed impossible.  Miranda gave us some fun ways to communicate.  We learned about need-based behaviors and how family play is essential for our whole family.  The cooperative play techniques and resources she offered let us finally begin to thrive as a family!"

"My Father has dementia.  It has been a difficult time as we adjust to his needs.  For months he was just sitting and watching
television.  However, Recreation Therapy was a game changer.  Once a week my dad is going out and volunteering.  He goes with a Recreational Therapist who helps him do things he used to love- helping people.  He also has projects he is doing in his free time that are within his skill level.  Knowing that he is finding meaning in life despite his memory loss is such a relief."
